Educational Qualification
(i) For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai — Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy—Degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution.
(iii) For Air Force Academy—Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering. Graduates with first choice as Army/Navy/Air Force are to submit proof of Graduation/provisional certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB Interview at the SSB.
Age Limit
- (i) For IMA—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 2002 and not later than 1st January 2007 only are eligible.
- (ii) For Indian Naval Academy—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 2002 and not later than 1st January 2007 only are eligible.
- (iii) For Air Force Academy—
Age: 20 to 24 years as on 1st January 2026 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January 2002 and not later than 1st January 2006 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January 2000 and not later than 1st January 2006 only are eligible. - Note: Candidate below 25 years of age must be unmarried. Marriage is not permitted during training. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply but during training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live with family out of the premises.
(iv) For Officers’ Training Academy—(SSC Course for men) unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 2001 and not later than 1 st January, 2007 only are eligible.
(v) For Officers’ Training Academy—(SSC Women Non-Technical Course) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 2001 and not later than 1st January, 2007.

Written Exam: This is the first stage of the CDS selection process. Candidates who register successfully for the exam are required to appear in the written exam. According to the CDS exam pattern, the written exam for IMA, INA and Air Force comprises three sections, English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics.
SSB Interview: There are two stages in SSB Interview – Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test. Candidates qualifying the stage one will be called for the second stage.
Final Selection: Final selection of candidates is done based on their performance in written exam and SSB Interview. Selected candidates will have to undergo training at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai.
CDS Exam Pattern for IMA, INA & OTA
The exam of Indian Naval Academy/Indian Military Academy/Indian Air Force comprises of 3 papers, which carry a total of 300 marks. The total duration of each exam is 2 hours.

CDS Exam Pattern for Officer Training Academy (OTA)
The exam of Officer Training Academy (OTA) consists of 2 subjects with a total of 200 Marks. The duration of the two exams is 4 hours (2 hours for each exam).

CDS I 2025 Marking Scheme
It is extremely important for candidates preparing for the CDS exam to understand the marking system. In this exam, 1/3 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. If candidates choose more than one option for a question, it will be considered as a wrong answer, and will lead to negative marking. However, if a candidate leaves a question unanswered, there is no penalty for that, i.e., there is no negative marking for unanswered questions

CDS 2025 SSB Interview
After the written exam, the candidates who qualify will have to undergo intelligence and personality test at the Service Selection Board (SSB) based on their preferred service. The SSB interview of CDS 2025 is conducted 1 month after the result. There are 2 main stages of CDS interview which are given below.
